Michael Pazzo - Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Roper St. Francis Healthcare
Michael Pazzo is the Chief Legal Officer for Roper St. Francis Healthcare and has been serving as the interim Chief Managed Care Officer since September 2023. Prior to joining Roper St. Francis Healthcare, he served for almost 20 years in various roles with Bon Secours Mercy Health. His experience negotiating with labor unions, physician groups and health systems coupled with his broad background in healthcare have led to recent successful negotiations with multiple large national payors. Michael has a Juris Doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University.
Scott Ellsworth – President & Founder of Ellsworth Consulting
Scott is the President and Founder of Ellsworth Consulting, an independent healthcare consulting firm working with providers to support their payer contracting negotiations. He and his team have over 120 years of combined healthcare experience and specialize in payer contracting negotiations for hospital & health systems. His clients include some of the country's leading hospital systems and national physician groups. Mr. Ellsworth’s approach is centered on empowering providers to negotiate from a position of strength and helping them understand how much leverage they actually have during negotiations and how to use it. With his 30+ years of payer executive leadership experience and deep insights into payer contracting strategies, approach, and tactics, he and his firm have consistently delivered real results for clients.
Prior to starting his consulting business in 2022, Mr. Ellsworth held executive roles at Centene, UnitedHealth Group, and Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. In his most recent role as President & CEO, West Region, at Centene, he led 10 states with a staff of 3,500 serving over 2 million members in Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial and Exchange products, generating $10B in annual revenue. Mr Ellsworth has over 30 years of payer experience negotiating provider contracts and is now leveraging that knowledge to support provider clients.
